The importance of a positive transition to school is well-recognised. It is one of the most significant events in the lives of young children and their families. It is important for each child’s wellbeing and ongoing educational and social success. Transition to school provides an ideal opportunity to connect with families and support them to become active participants in their child’s learning.
Prep Squad is a play-based program for the purpose of welcoming children, parents and carers to Lindsay Park Public School.
This includes:
the school getting to know each child, their learning and wellbeing needs and engaging in reciprocal relationships with local preschool services to support this
working with families and children to support strong transitions that will enhance literacy, numeracy, social skills and wellbeing in Kindergarten
building familiarity with the school environment
children getting to know each other and school staff
building home and school relationships

What is Prep Squad?
At Lindsay Park Public School, we’re proud to offer the Prep Squad Program - a supportive and engaging transition program designed to help preschool children get ready for school at Lindsay Park.
Running over 4 sessions in Terms 2 and 3, this program gently introduces your child to the school environment, helping them build confidence, make new friends, and become familiar with simple routines and school staff. The program takes place in the school library, ensuring the focus is on play and relationship building with families. It is expected that parents and carers remain with their child during this program, providing an excellent opportunity for families to meet one another and school staff.
Please contact us to enrol your child in the Prep Squad Program.
